Engineering Dominos

What it is:

Engineering Dominos* is a simple game where two players slap down an a tile with a characteristic of a potential engineering graduate student. The players then have 10 seconds to decide (together) which of the two attributes in more critical for students.

Why we did it:

As academics, we are all too familiar with the desire to talk through all of the potential aspects of an issue. While we appreciate the rigor of that approach, it can often result in repeated conversation and entrenched viewpoints. By transforming that discussion into an embodied, visceral experience, we hoped to open up new ways of thinking about the qualities and constraints related to engineering graduate students.

*This game was inspired by a different, but related activity called Stanford Jenga, which was developed by Kelly Schmutte.
